~A Mothers Gift~
Whenever I have the opportunity to share something special about my mom... I do it with such joy~ I feel especially blessed to have her by my side... She is always there with tidbits of wisdom, laughter and a calming presence whenever I have been upset. Recently my wonderful step dad ( which in my eyes was a very special "dad" to me) passed away rather unexpectedly. All of our worlds stopped and in that moment I thought to myself..."how can I ever comfort her as she has comforted me in the past? She has wiped away so many tears and walked me through many trials and tribulations of my own... but how was I to comfort her at this point in time with such a loss? Everyone heals at their own pace and there is no right or wrong way to go about it~ It is just important to know that we are there to surround them with love, kindness and healing prayers.

We joked about this one saying that she resembled Queen Elizabeth on a Tahitian Vacation!!! |
My mom and I have always been close have a very fun relationship. laughing and joking no matter where we where or what we were doing! To share the same sense of humor and joy with someone you enjoy being with and love is a gift and I feel so blessed! Even though I am sure at times people have wondered who are those" crazy women" and if we have had a drink or 2 before hand...LOL. We are always joking about that because she has never really drank a full alcoholic drink in her life! So as crazy as we are... when the family is together it gets even crazier!!

Enjoy the many small treasures in life, they are gifts for a reason and only available to those that have eyes to see them in everyday life~

Strength to carry on..... |
~Seeing the beauty in every ruffle of life~ |
Although these just seem like words and pictures they ultimately touch the heart and make life worthwhile.. so as I sit here wondering what I can give my mom to comfort and give her hope in these days after the loss of someone so very special to her, I now realize that the gift she so tenderly gave me all my life is one that I can offer her in return~ "that everything will be ok... have hope for a new tomorrow, changes and all.. and that everything in life has a reason and purpose".
Life is beautiful, it has the ability to the cause the deepest of pain and saddness , yet the highest elation of love and happiness.
May you all have eyes to see the everyday beauty and treasures in your lives but most of all may you look into your mothers eyes and see the love & beauty that resides within her~

AWESOME GIVE AWAY FOR A SPECIAL WINNER!
You are so blessed to have such a wonderful mother. My mother for some reason never accepted me very much. It broke my heart. When I met my husband I found my answer to my heartache. His mother loved me so much and was the best friend I always wanted. one of the saddest days of my life was when she died of leukemia. I thought my world had ended. then I realized what she gave me. I had the memories of us together, the love we shared, that she taught me I was important and did matter (that in its self changed my whole life), she taught me how to cook (I still make the wonderful dishes she taught and had the courage to go on and learn so much more), there are so many more I could add, but the most important thing is she blessed my life with the most dear friend I could ever have, my wonderful husband. Instead of a dysfunctional home I grew up in I was able to have the family and home blessed with happiness and love. What more could one ask for. She blessed my life beyond measure and I love her every day more and more for my wonderful life I now have!

DeleteMy mom passed away when I was only 15, but a fond memory Ihave is how she encouraged me in art. I do what I do today because of her encouragement as a child. Thanks for doing the giveaway. It's a great honor to your mom that you did this post. I'm an American living in Ukraine. I do art with people here. My blog: www.vintageterrace2.blogspot.com

I love that my mother is a homemaker, and really, really a homemaker. Making her home beautiful and inviting, and entertaining for the holidays has always been a priority for her. She recycled and repurposed long before it "in" to be "green." :) She always took care of her things, and she has been crafting and making things beautiful her entire life. She moved to a different state a few years ago, and I really miss her, but we still create art "together" by participating in several online groups! I love my Mom!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful memories you have of your Mom!!Thanks for sharing and hope you will get to visit often!
DeleteMy mom always thought, assumed I could do it...no matter what "it" was. And maybe more precious, she shared her love for Jesus by simply loving Him and letting me see it. Walking through the kitchen and seeing her excitedly pour over the Word had the same effect on me that walking into a kitchen of baking bread does...it made me hungry and I'd often go to my room and do the same thing!
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful gift your Mom gave you!Have a beautiful day and thanks for visiting!
DeleteMy mom is my greatest supporter - whatever I decided to do (either at 16 or at 40) she's there saying 'you can do it!' and making me believe I really do!
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful giveaway - thanks for putting it together!
That is so great Alicia to have a Mom that is so supportive and loving! Thank you for visiting and sharing your Mom with us!
DeleteAwh! Is it too late to join in!??! I have seen your work before online and bumped into again today! Love your work! You are another person to add to my inspirational artist group!
ReplyDeleteThank you so very much and so glad you enjoy!!
DeleteYour story is wonderful... maybe next year I will be able to write more about Mom. This is my first Mothers Day without Mom. it is so hard to write this as I cannot see through the tears. Her last words to every one as she was dying was "remember to laugh, laughter will get you through any thing in life." She left a great legacy behind, the greatest is the creativity she inspired in each of he children.
ReplyDeleteI am so very sorry for your loss~ Your Mom is still with you listening to all your hopes and dreams... her presence is just in another way~ She sounds like she loved life and passed that onto you... a beautiful gift you have from here! Sending love and prayers of healing Lyneen~
DeleteThanks for your prayers... healing just takes time!
DeletePS... My mom was a 'tom boy' growing up. She shows me her love without hugs and kisses. (My Dad stepped up in that department) Mom is very healthy but getting up there in age. There is no way possible to prepare one self when and if Mom goes before me. I was just talking to my sister on where we get our creativity from...mine is from Mom...she is always busy crocheting or inventing something out of nothing. Her hands are never still. Although she is not seasoned on the canvas with paint, she does have an artistic eye in other crafts...I love her
ReplyDeleteSe sweet that her hands were always busy creating love and beauty~ We all have our strengths and so glad you mom and Dad balanced each other out in what they offered their family! Thanks for sharing!!
