"Violet Cottage"
What inspires me has changed a lot through my life as well as the mediums in which I choose to express my creativity.
I used to own a gift boutique and I loved creating spaces that my customers could experience all around them. I frequently would get inspiration from going to Disneyland. We lived in Southern California and Disneyland was my retreat, my way to recharge and be surrounded by, what I felt was, pure joy. The Imagineers were constantly changing and updating the park and their window displays, so I was always on the hunt to discover what was new, I loved it! In my shop, each display area had a different theme and story. I would get into the head of the person that might live there, in that space, and create a world for them. I would re-paint or wallpaper the walls, paint on the furniture and create new pieces for my new displays. I would pick out scented candles that matched the new environment and I even changed the music in my shop to reflect the new themes, so I could really utilize all the senses!
These days, to inject passion back into my artistic endeavors which include painting, card making and jewelry design, I look at other blogs, check out Pinterest and browse Facebook to see what is new. I particularly love to see party and wedding themes and designs... the creativity is astounding!

Sometimes, a good long hot bubble bath is a great way to spark some new ideas, too!
I do miss working in three dimensions in a space that surrounds my guests and I can utilize all five senses, but I'm really enjoying working in two dimensions, too!
