~Happy Holidays ~Altered Pages Design Team Post~

I am so thrilled to be one of the design team members for Altered Papers and with the  Holiday's coming at the speed of light.... it is so hard for me to believe it is November already!! Christmas  is by far my most favorite time of the year as it encompasses everything I love, family, friends, gatherings and that special feeling of  giving from the heart. For some reason I just seem to be drawn to Vintage ephemera and really enjoy creating items from that era. There was such a beautiful , elegant richness that is so apparent true Vintage items from that day.. from houses,to clothing to artwork. Everything from that time was considered special.. pride was taken in craftsmanship and the general population reveled in elegance and at the same time there was a quality of innocence.

When designing this 4 x 6 Holiday canvas board, I used a  beautiful Vintage paper image from Altered Pages and gathered some other  ephemera goodies. I then painted the background by using  red and green acrylic paints and using a brayer to roll on. When dried, I stamped snowflakes on the background and around the border with white archival ink. I then applied the vintage girl image with mod podge and placed the vintage style frame over it securing it with more mod podge .To create the snow texture, I dabbed on modeling paste  around the bottom of the canvas and  encompassed some of the frame. I wanted some depth to the image itself so I painted over some of the features such as the hair and her bow. I finished off with small round chip board letters to create "Waiting for Santa",tinsel glitter on the" snow", the Happy Holidays plaque and a bit of glitter glue here and there for depth and interest!

"Have Fun Creating Holiday Happiness!!"

In love and Faith
