~Magic In The Hen House~ With The Robins Nest

~Magic In The Hen House~

With Easter and Spring approaching, I wanted to create a fun holiday journal page... and what is more iconic then Easter Eggs in Spring?? The Robins Nest has such wonderful items to embellish and have fun with for creating! I wanted to build the project around  the beautiful Crackle Glitter Papers and "The Spring Dews"-Mini Dew Drops in Spring Colors.I also wanted to put an interesting twist on it so used a dryer sheet for the straw!!!!So come join us for this fun and artsy creative adventure!!

~Supplies~

Assorted  Robins Nest "Crackle Glitter Papers" ( I used Blue,Pink and Purple)
"Spring Dews"-  Mini Dew Drops
Collage Papers for creating the  Hen House
Crackle Paint ( I used an Aged Mahogany color)
A Used Dryer Sheet-cut into" long shreds"
Paint Spray ( Yellow and Orange)
Letter Stamps
Lacey Trim Stickers
Ink Pad ( Sepia and Black)
Assorted Big Brush Pens
Modge Podge
Spray Sealer

Gather you Crackle paper and cut out some eggs shapes in a size that works for your page.

Draw a basic shape of a hen house and roof on your journal page  and add your collage papers on top to create the look of a roof and sign over the  door opening . Paint the hen house with crackle paint
( apply thick for a good cracked effect) and let dry. When dried, I apply some black and sepia ink (with my finger) from the stamp pad and used pens to create depth and enhance the crackle effect on the walls.

I then added lines on the eggs with the lacy sticker trim. I secured down further with a top coat of modge podge and glued them down at the entrance to the hen house.I further embellished the eggs with the Mini dew drops.

For the final touch I used a "used" dryer sheet ,cut it in small strips and sprayed with an ink spray in both yellow and orange randomly to create color variations. Let dry and apply the sealer to the colored dryer sheets shreds, so when applied to the page with modge podge, the ink wont re wet and run all over from the  paint on the dryer sheet.
I then added some depth to the eggs and sign with the markers and stamped the "Hens" lettering on the sign..This is a very fun whimsical type of project and I love to always work in different mediums, textures and themes to create something fun, funky and interesting!! So have fun, step out of your creative zone and enjoy the artsy process.....The Robin Nest is a wonderful place to start and check out their sales for the week .... you can also find them on FB
