The Robin Nests Design Team April Blog Hop-~Embrace Life's Gifts~

"Embrace Life's Gifts"

How many times in a day are we aware of the beautiful gifts around us~ the small heartfelt gifts like a beautiful sunset, the  sweet song of a bird or a gentle breeze. Even the warm comfort of a handmade quilt has the ability to make us feel as a gift of love is wrapping its arms around us. So with this months project using the beautiful Sorbet Glitter card stock ( which is on Sale this month!!) from The Robins Nest I decided to create a "canvas quilt".

Supplies

12 x 12 Canvas
Assorted colors of Sorbet Glitter Cardstock Paper
Assorted complimentary patterned collage papers
BigKick of similar embossing machine
Paisley Embossing folder for the  paper design
Mod Podge
Big Brush Pens for highlighting
Letter stickers
Stamp /ink for the "stitched look"

Emboss papers using the BigKick with the paisley  design folder and cut finished paper into squares to randomly fit together on the 12 x 12 canvas . Apply mod podge to secure squares down. Using some complimentary papers, create thin borders to outline the squares around the quilt and glue down. In the center of the middle square (which I have made bigger) is for a sentimental or uplifting message... mine was "Embrace Life's Gifts". Highlighting the raised areas on the papers with the big brush pens adds some depth and dimension. This project was very fun and  a great way to create the "sewn" look without the needles and thread! For the finishing touch I added the small stamp that creates the look of stitches around the borders. Enjoy your creative journey!
