~Ice Dying to Dye For~
I had so much fun using this technique for dying fabric!
I thought it would be a perfect day ( 90 degrees day here!) to create some beautifully dyed scarves! I started with natural fabrics and diluted some Arm & Hammer washing soda in a warm water bath. I then soaked the material in the warm bath for 10 minutes. I wrung out the fabric and placed on a wire rack in a large tub. I then added a bag of ice to the fabric on top spreading over the fabric. You then can grab some fun colors of powdered dyes ( I used RIT) and using a mask spoon or pour dye powders over the ice randomly ( the more random the better!! )
Now let sit and let the magic begin!!
Here you can see the result of about an hour and a half. Fun random colors and patterns!
Here's the end result and time to rinse!
Below you see the fabric all dyed and I especially love the results of the one below!
This was so much fun and I hope you enjoy this creative version of dying fabric!!
How pretty! Will have to try this myself!
ReplyDeleteLove this... So FUN...:)

ReplyDeleteWhen i was in excruciating mind-altering pelvic pain i used to cover myself in a colorful clothe like the bright turqouise one. Everything else was painful to my skin. I threw it away a long time ago because i associated it with such suffering. Seeing it again here is nice. It was a clothe that i loved that i bought in my many travels to 3rd world countries. The light colored one is especially beautiful and delicate. I am learning from you. I love how professional your blog is and i love that you teach and share your art through teaching. I also wrote an article for soulsisterwisdom magazine. I will look for yours. Were you published in the first or second edition? Lots of love and many blessings.
