  1. Being art brave for me means painting in colors I love and my own style, unlike the realistic oil painting landscapes I was brought up painting in earth tones. I let my love of color, my fun, and my heart fly like a freak flag now!

  2. Art brave is being willing to learn new techniques and creating art my way and being brave enough to share it with others.

  3. Being Brave as an artist to me is to let the 'little kid' inside me come out and play! She has been playing 'peek a boo' with me for a long time, and I would love the opportunity for her to be in your classroom!

  6. Being "art brave" to me means pushing past your doubts of your talent or lack thereof and just becoming immersed in the joy that creating art is and should be for each person.

  8. Being art brave means to me..just puttering at what I do. my husband is a master wood carver and I paint this and that and do fiber art and I think doing what I do is art (even if I am not a master) I just keep busy and putter and create and try

  9. For me being Art Brave is to try out new things even if I did not master the last new thing that I tried to learn. I am a recovering perfectionist so it is very tempting to stay in the zone of mastery, to keep creating at the place where I know I am able to create something that will be liked by myself and those that look at my art. And I am my own worst critic :) By learning new techniques all the time I keep my brain busy and working hard to make sense of new concepts, something I try to live out in my life with others as well.

  10. Being art brave is allowing my intuition to guide me and to not judge or be harsh with what I create. Being art brave is to just let go!

  11. Take a deep breath, letting go of all preconceived notions of what art is supposed to be and connecting with your inner artist is Brave Heart Art. Hearing the 'not good enough to be an artist' voices from the past and still moving forward.

  12. Me Time to Create Without Guilt
    ~Char-Leah
There is a beautiful pair of boots
I see in the window of
a store I long to enter
and try them on for size
    but I'm halted by
    my own terrible lies;
    too hard to put on
    too costly
    I'm too busy
    they're better suited for others...
why do I tell myself these things
while dreaming of feeling the beautiful texture along these boots?
I love all the colors; some warm, some cool together forming harmony.
The energy I see in others who wear similar boots captivates me and
makes me want to have a pair of my own.
Courage to purchase these amazing boots is only the first step
and putting them on isn't the end
I can wear them proudly, for small events or spectacular tadoos
and stop making apologies for wanting them, even needing them.
With my brave girl boots I have nothing to lose

  30. Being art brave would be many of the things posted here in the comments. I need to be Art Brave. I start a piece thinking I will be, but before long I judge it by comparing it to the work of others. I know I shouldn't, I tell myself it's my unique style. But I do not show it to anyone. I want to be brave!

  37. Oh another giveaway! So exciting! I think being Art Brave this year meant opening myself up to art journal about my Journey to Health and releasing my body armor (extra pounds) which has lead me to a healthier life and given me the ability to create instead of feed my pain and darkness. I was brave enough to shine my light and share my story as I journaled my way through. Using art to heal is such an expanding way to move through the challenges of life. Thanks so much for YOUR inspiration! ~Hobby

  38. Art Brave for me, at this point in my life is ignoring all the static that life shells out and making art a priority. Not something I "get to do IF everything else is done". Choosing art daily like I do my medication. Learning to say, sorry I am busy during that time. Art is my life force. I have to protect art to keep myself healthy. And, I'm much nicer with daily art. Lol
