HAPPY GIVE AWAY!!!

HAPPY GIVE AWAY!!!

Since this is my Birthday month... I am giving away 2 on line workshop to spaces to my New workshop~ Courage~. This canvas was created for my daughter upon leaving for her first year of college several weeks ago. She is my last "baby" to leave so her leaving was very bittersweet~ She wanted me to make her one similar to the previous canvas I did and I added the heart ... She loved it and has it in her dorm room.. a little piece of "mom love" for her while she is away at college!
We all need to take a bit of "courage" with us when embarking on a new journey !

This on line workshop starts September 15th and you will have 6 months to view! Drawing will be held Saturday the 14th and winners will be notified the same day!

All you need to do is to leave your comment below and click on the follow button for the blog and share with us an experience that really triggered you to create a special piece of artwork!

Thanks and Good Luck Everyone!!
In love & Faith
Sherri

  1. Hi Sherri :) I'd love to be a part of this! My experience was a sad one, as I experienced a miscarriage some years ago - and I worked through my emotional turmoil with art. The canvas still resides here, in my little studio.

  2. I love to watch my eldest Daughter Dance! When she was a teenager I painted a canvas of her and 2 friends dancing! Then I gave it to her teacher! It has pride of place in the studio. My Daughter dances and teaches professionally now. And I still cant get enough of watching her when I can.

  3. Beautiful canvas!
My experience is emotional. Working on some inner stuff. Trying to figure out some blocks.

  4. My experience was more needing some type of creative outlet. I was a scrapbooker for many years and just wasn't "feeling it". Decided that one of the things I most liked about scrapping was learning/using new techniques, etc. so this seems like a good alternative for me!

  6. Beautiful story. I have not created anything; your story inspires me to create something for my daughter who is six months pregnant. It has been a long, hard and tearful journey for the family.
Thank you for sharing your story.

  9. Thank you for sharing a special moment with your daughter. My beautiful, sweet, precious daughter is the light of my life. My daughter is in college and becoming her own woman, and I am so proud and full of love, and hope as I watch her follow her dreams. I am so thankful to be able to share every moment with her, laugh, cry, snuggle, have our slumber parties and cherish the moments I have with her. Everything I wish I could have done with my mom. Sherri, every time she looks at her canvas she will have a little hug from her Mom. And every time you look at the things around your home that are her....you will have one to! Hugs,

  11. Hi I am a new follower and well I would love to try and have a spot at one of your workshops because it is my birthday month as well. Now the piece that holds a place in my heart has to be the one I framed for a contest it took all my effort to do and it was my first contest ever. I was super poor but I found a way to enter the contest anyways I still am extremely poor but I still love art.

  12. Oh how I understand the bittersweet of that last baby. Still missing mine and it's been 3 years.
For many years I've loved birds and all of God's creatures. I threatened to do a bird book for the longest time. Then, a cyber friend sent me a bunch of bird ephemera. What could I do, but alter the book and do it.

Sherri, thanks for doing this. Living in Ukraine with little art contact, this would be a great blessing for me.

  13. Two examples: years ago I wove a lumpy uneven basket to thank a Tlingit master basketweaver for her teachings. She loved it for its sincerity. And several years ago, I used one of my deceased father's ties to make a small heart for my mom to keep by her bedside and hold when she missed him. The heart contained a small music box that played "Let Me Call You Sweetheart" that he used to sing to her. Presently, I work in mixed media and would love to participate in your online workshop to learn new artful ways.

  14. What a dramatic & inspiring piece of art you have created Sherri. You are so right, we all need courage to deal with life. I'm still working to push past blocks in creativity & create a special piece. Illness brought me back to art, that and a love of colour.

  15. Ok lets try again. Two women that have inspired a couple of piece I did were my sister Marlene and my daughter Cassandra. They both run animal rescues one in the Yukon the other in North Alberta. I used pictures of some of their rescued animals for mixed media. I made a piece for each of there offices. Thanks so much for this opportunity.

  17. love that piece Sherri and your daughter is one lucky girl to have such dorm art!
My experience is working through my "new" life of being retired and being able to finally immerse myself in my art. It seems like it should be an easy thing to do, however after working for others for so many years, it truly has been a major adjustment! But ,one I would never change for anything!!I feel reborn! thanks for the opportunity!hugs

  18. I just found your blog and am now a follower. I starting creating art as an outlet for expressing my feelings and as a challenge to do something I thought I could never do. Classes have sparked my imagination and given me tools to try new things with each new creation. Thank you for a chance to win a place in your class. I love the artistry that I see here and would love the challenge of bringing something new into my own works!

  19. you know how much i love ya. i started art after i became disabled. i didnt want to sit around and feel sorry for myself so i thought art would be a great outlet. that led me to charity wings and being a volunteer so i feel like i am contributing something to this world in some small part. the last piece i did was for my 4 year old granddaughter, just the melted crayons thing on white canvas with chipboard letters painted white so you could read it but it was subtle. it said quinn...you color my world. i know what you mean sherrie about the last one leaving the nest, it is hard for sure. but just think next it will be grandkids and that is one of lifes most awesome adventures. thanks for the chance to win hun. would love to take your class. xoxo

  20. Thanks so much for the opportunity. I am already a follower. I create a lot of art for gifts so I really try and create pieces that are really personal to the receiver. To me every piece that I create has some special meaning or purpose. Even if I just create something I learned, I try and make it have meaning to me. Surrounding myself with messages that I have infused into the art is so comforting. I want to do the same for those pieces that I create for others. I think it's important to put our love and energy into everything from a meal to art, etc. Your pieces all seem to do this as well so I would love to win! Thanks for the opportunity and all of the positive messages you send out each day.

  21. Beautiful piece. I can relate it was so hard when my oldest left home, funny though, I couldn't wait for my youngest to leave.

  22. I love love this give away. I recently lost my sis inlaw to a drunk driver. I turned to art as my comfort and it gave me such peace.

  23. Congratulations on having done your parenting job so well and allowing your children to continue on their own journeys. While our children will always need us, from here on out it is in a different way and it is time for our lives to evolve as well.

I would be honored to win a spot in your class as I continue my journey.

  26. You know how I LOVE your work! Creating for me is a stress reliever. I worked for many years as a civilian supporting military families. As a military community outreach manager, my job was to support them with whatever I could. I came home sad, stressed and also feeling like my job changed lives every single day. I left my career in 2010 and I miss it so very much every single day. As Military families, we endure lots of stressors and my art helped me then and helps me today worked the stress of every day and channel it into something beautiful and positive. I would love to be able to take your class and learn from someone so talented. Thank you for this opportunity! ♡

  27. I would love to win a spot in your workshop. This last year has been a tough one. My divorce was finalized, my father passed away, finished a custody battle, and was the victim of an assualt. Though there will be many pieces of art born from processing this last year, I have started an art doll that, when I have the courage to do so, will be left at the site of my assault. I am a single mom of 4 and college art student, and am trying to find creative ways to make, share, and learn art and techniques that don't break the bank. A spot in your workshop would be good for the soul!

  31. I would really love to win a place in one of your workshops because I recently found when I got up the courage to try new techniques without worrying about the results, I created something I loved.....I need more encouragement in this type of perspective and I suspect you and your workshop would help me in this!
